This letter from Cherie appeared on the
Letters page of YOU magazine of May 12,2005. It was in a
response to an article about affairs being good for you.
Dear Sir,
I run About Lovers and other Strangers in
Johannesburg for people who wish to meet suitable others for an
affair. Confidentiality is extremely important so I am discerning
about who I accept as members.
Having a lover often enables
people to satisfy needs for intimacy and affection so often lost in
long term marriages. In my experience this is often not enough to
end the marriage however.
Married people who feel emotionally
lonely, bored, or unappreciated often decide to satisfy these core
needs in an extra-marital affair rather than get divorced.
If
this outlet didn’t exist the bored partner would leave. Affairs can
be stressful and aren’t for everyone but for those who can’t face
living the rest of their lives with emotionally distant or
physically unavailable partners, but don’t wish to get divorced,
affairs can be a solution. |
