Gauteng has been dubbed the home of heartbreak after Stats SA recently released figures indicating the number of marriages dissolved in Gauteng is more than twice the national average. This being the case the obvious question is what-if anything-can be done to prevent divorce?
Cherie owner of of About Lovers and Other Strangers in Rivonia believes she’s able to offer an answer to this. Her business offers those who are married(or in a long term relationship) the opportunity to meet short term partners in an atmosphere of complete confidentiality.
“Whether we choose to admit or not people are having affairs, both genders, that is,”says Cherie. ”Many divorces occur because spouses cannot satisfy some need of their partner, this may be physical, but it equally could be a need for intimacy, affection, attention, or romance”, says Cherie.
Therefore About Lovers and Other Strangers rather than being a cause of divorce, actually helps to keep partners together sometimes, says Cherie. This is because the members have been carefully screened to ensure that they are not going to break up marriages, make demands or become a ‘fatal attraction’ “If I feel someone is emotionally needy, insecure, or searching for a soulmate, my service is not for them”,says Cherie.
