Background
information
One of the great paradoxes of human societies is that while most
insist on monogamy, human beings throughout history-and even
before-have been engaging in extramarital liaisons. Why do you think
there was a need for the Seventh Commandment in the first place?
Despite religious and social disapproval people, both men and women,
have a need for a relationship(s) outside their marriage or other
involvement.
How come?
There are as many reasons given as there are people engaging in
them. Some of these are: * boredom and routine * emotional
hunger * a need for sexual novelty, variety and adventure * a
need for passion again * a need to feel special and appreciated
again * insufficient or unsatisfying sex in the marriage *
partner has become physically undesirable * a need to assert
one's virility or attractiveness to others
Combine all this with the stresses and complications of a
long-term relationship/marriage such as financial issues,
child-rearing issues, as well as the mundane dreariness of day to
day living and the scene is set for an exciting affair. The above
issues rarely exist in extramarital affairs so the excitement and
intensity of feeling as well as the centrality of sex, does not
destroy the passion. |
